The Edmonton Small Press Association: The ESPA is a socially-conscious non-profit arts society fostering the awareness and development of independent small press ventures in Canada and beyond.
It is a repository of everything cool and creative in the activist world. They sponsor the annual North of Nowhere Expo (an activist arts festival). They are also an infoshop, distro and small press library and archive. Amazing.
No Logo: The uncompromising and elegant Naomi Klein: A great example of honesty, integrity and clarity. You must visit.
Media Channel: Monitoring media coverage to reveal the larger patterns and truths. Honourable and essential work.
Protest Net: Clearinghouse of protest news and information around the globe. It's inspiring to see the depth and commitment of the protest community. Fantastic resource.
The Sierra Club: Elizabeth May, the Canadian Executive Director, is one of my favorite speakers in the world. If you don't get it after hearing her, you probably have the analytical capacities of a boiled egg. Elizabeth is now the leader of Canada's Green Party.
Noam Chomsky: Unequivocally, the finest mind on the planet. He is a universe of inspiration.
Multinational Monitor: Multinational Monitor's research and reporting is impeccable. They have been revealing the dark side of the corporate theocracy for many years. A superb website and magazine.
IndyMedia: The Independent Media Center is a network of collectively run media outlets for the creation of radical, accurate, and passionate tellings of the truth. The reporting here is excellent, reliable and timely.
InfoShop: Huge and splendid resource for activists and other social mutants. Amazing and diverse selection of articles, features, calendars and more.
Jay's Leftist and Progressive Links: Jay's is one of the most comprehensive collection of articles, links and resources available on the net. Absolutely brilliant.
David Suzuki Foundation: Canadian, David Suzuki, is is an award-winning scientist, environmentalist and broadcaster. He has spent over 30 years educating and enlightening people about environmental and social justice issues. When a such a kind and gentle man expresses outrage, he probably has something important to say.
Michael Moore: A passionate and authentic man with a spectacular research team. I've been a fan since Roger & Me. If the US mainstream didn't treat him as a pariah, he wouldn't be doing his job.
Corpwatch: Holding corporations accountable. Excellent reporting and resources on the subject of corporate corruption. Brimming with excellent research, campaigns and news.
Z Magazine: The quintessential activist resource. Has featured every major US progressive intellectual during its distinguished history. The website is one of the most comprehensive activist resources in the world. Absolutely indispensable.
New Internationalist: In their words, "The New Internationalist workers' co-operative (NI) exists to report on the issues of world poverty and inequality; to focus attention on the unjust relationship between the powerful and powerless worldwide; to debate and campaign for the radical changes necessary to meet the basic needs of all; and to bring to life the people, the ideas and the action in the fight for global justice." An excellent website and magazine.
Disinformation: Disinformation was originally funded by one of the largest media companies in the world (TeleCommunications, Inc. (TCI), now part of Comcast) After 3 weeks, TCI realized what they were doing and shut it down. Site founder,Richard Metzger, managed to keep the site going and it has evolved into a pretty big deal.
Global Exchange: List of corporate human-rights violators. Huge list of resources. Global Exchange is a membership-based international human rights organization dedicated to promoting social, economic and environmental justice around the world.
Better World Links: Links to 30,000 progressive sites.
POCLAD: Program on Corporations, Law and Democracy. Excellent explanation of the consequences of corporation imperialism. Deeply honorable work.
Media Matters for America: Very good analysis of right-wing reporting in US media.
COMEDY
FUH2: Fuck you and your filthy hummer website. Cathartic.
This Modern World: Tom Tomorrow is a massively talented cartoonist/satirist. His ability to condense the most complex social phenomena into a few panels of grim, yet highly informative, humour is uncanny.
The Colbert Report: (Comedy Central TV) I once had a very strong opinion that US people were fundamentally incapable of comprehending irony. Steven Colbert has annihilated my bias. He is a brilliant gadfly, egomaniac and devil's advocate and doubly so during interview situations. His sweet truthiness is almost unbearable.
The Daily Show: The Daily Show is one of the most subversive things on US television. John Stewart is so gleefully caustic! Like they say, "It's even better than being informed."
The Ronald Reagan Home for the Criminally Insane: Bad taste for a good cause.
Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster: Bobby Henderson would like to know why only Christian intelligent Design is taught in the US as an alternative to evolution.He believes his Flying Spaghetti Monster Theory deserves equal time. I agree.
Anxiety Culture: Absolutely amazing site. If you are disgusted with life in the cubicle farms, this is the place for you. Lots of creative and amusing stuff to explore here. Make your own graphics with the "No World Order" font set.
WEIRD
Church of the Subgenius: A surreal and disturbing destination. This is where you go to get the amazing Bobco fonts, become an ordained minister of the Subgenius or to simply become perplexed and befuddled (but in a deeply satisfying manner).
Chickenhead: Keeps getting better and better every time I see it. Weird, odd, creative satire. Beautiful layout. Lots of content.
RedMeat: Delightfully morose and creepy comics. You've probably laughed with tears in your eyes because something was funny....here it happens because you're forlorn.
Zippy the Pinhead: Zippy is an idiot savant clown who has no original thoughts of his own but has the uncanny ability to regurgitate social, corporate and advertising trends as though participating in conversation. Bill Griffith's long-running masterpiece. Spectacular website.
Death and Dementia: Great collection of weird and eerie links.
Zenzibar: The Alternative culture Directory. News, art, music, Burning Man stuff and much more.
Fark: General mayhem. Huge, well-researched and current selection of all that is perplexing and disturbing.
ART / ACTIVISM
Justice Design: Graphic design for social change. Lots of great, free progressive graphics on a variety of topics.
Brushstroke: This is a beautiful collection of peace posters.
Another Poster for Peace: Great quality downloadable and printable posters.
RiniArt: For 20 years, Rini Templeton made drawings of activists in the United States, Mexico and Central America while she joined them in their meetings, demonstrations, picket lines and other actions for social justice. She called her bold black-and-white images "xerox art" because activists and organizers could copy them easily for use in their banners, signs, leaflets, newsletters, even T-shirts, whenever needed.
All-Out-Art: Becky Johnson is a unique and creative artist. Her work is truly superb.

Freewayblogger: A very creative method of self-expression. This is the hub for a community of people who make DIY billboards to promote critical thinking. Great how-to section.
RTMark: RTMark uses corporate doublespeak to fight corporate doublespeak. As they say, "RTMark was the first corporation to offer limited liability to activists, artists, and other cultural producers. Since 1994, RTMark has been recognized as a clear leader in the Activist industry."
Adbusters: The original source fro culture jamming. The Adbusters Media Foundation is a global network of artists, activists, writers, pranksters, students, educators and entrepreneurs who want to advance the new social activist movement of the information age. This one of the most deliciously subversive places on the net.
The Yes Men: Andy Biclbaum and Mike Bonanno are subversive geniuses. They created a fake WTO website and accepted erroneous invitations to give speeches at conventions as representatives of the WTO. Buy or rent this video as soon as you can. Visit the site to keep up to date with their newest corporate-exposure performance-art. A new movie is on the way as well.
The Bubble Project: Ji Lee has come up with a clever idea. He sticks cartoon word-bubbles onto public ads all over NYC, lets people randomly fill them in and later returns to photograph them.
Natalie Jeremijenko: A brilliant and unconventional university professor, Natalie Jeremijenko has invented many activist devices that are part science and part performance art. She calls them "weapons of mass instruction".
Billboard Liberation Front: Billboards don't always need to be unwitting corporate sycophants. The guys agree. Fun and Mischief.

Santarchy: Every December, for the last 12 years, Cacophonous Santas have been visiting cities around the world and generating a bit of naughty Christmas fun as part of the annual Santacon events.
